Letter concerning: 2020 Concerts Canceled

Playing Free Park Concerts

since 1923!

Friends, we have had to cancel our 2020 concerts due to COVID-19. Please read letter below from band president Bryce Stenzel.

OUR MISSION:

To provide a consistent series of free, public outdoor concerts. These are events for all ages. We play your favorite styles: marches, concert band favorites, jazz, Big Band, children's, Disney tunes, old and new movie/show tunes. Biggest variety of any band in town! Come bring the entire family out to Sibley! Especially good for families: Children's march weekly with bubbles and other surprises!

OUR 2021 SPONSORS:

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

We rely on donations from the public to support about 25% of our financial needs. Thank you to everyone who gave to the band. No amount is too small to count. We couldn't do it without you. Donations can be sent to Mankato Area Community Band, c/o Martha Lindberg, 100 Cedar St., Apt. 404, Mankato, MN 56001

Dear Mankato Community Band Board of Directors,

Band Members and

Loyal Audience Members:

It is with a heavy heart that I am recommending the cancellation of our entire 2020 concert season. At its May 11, online council meeting; The Mankato City Council passed a resolution to extend the city parks closure order until July 13. Since no one is allowed to gather in any city park until mid-July (at the earliest), there is no point in prolonging the "wait and see" approach we have taken, thus far.

I commend all of you for your dedicated service to this organization (for some of you, that commitment spans many years, even decades), and I hope we will be able to put the COVID 19 pandemic behind us very soon, so we can all get back to the business of doing what we do best--making music and enhancing people's quality of life. In the meantime, stay safe. The band needs ALL of you to return next year.

Sincerely,

Bryce O. Stenzel,

Mankato Area Community Band President
